Manchester United fans are already feeling nervous about next weekend’s derby showdown against Manchester City.
It is not just because their neighbours are in scintillating form, but because Jose Mourinho’s side will be without Paul Pogba.
The midfielder was issued with a straight red card for lunging in on Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin during Saturday’s 3-1 victory at the Emirates.
The France international was performing well in the exciting encounter, but referee Andre Marriner had no choice but to send the £89m man packing.
The lunge resulted in Pogba’s studs connecting with the back of Bellerin’s leg in the final 16 minutes of the game.
The red card means that the midfielder will play no part in the crucial Manchester derby next Sunday.
The Red Devils are already five points off the pace of Pep Guardiola’s side, but they could be eight by the time they host City at Old Trafford given that the blue half of Manchester play West Ham United later today.
As expected, United fans were left worrying about their chances in the derby following Pogba’s sending-off.
