The Match of the Day host took aim at his friend and fellow pundit for getting relegated with Aston Villa during his playing career. Lineker said: "It's been a big day at both ends of the table, the top three and the bottom six all in action. Two Premier League winners in the studio, Micah Richards and Joe Hart… only one of them got relegated."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
It was a big day in the Premier League with two of the top three sides mentioned by Lineker losing. Arsenal lost 1-0 away at Newcastle before City fell to defeat by the same scoreline in Bournemouth. The Gunners and City's slip ups allowed Liverpool to go to the top of the league, two points clear of the reigning champions. Meanwhile, Southampton picked up their first win of the season against Everton and Ipswich and Leicester shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
