Chelsea passed up on the chance to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli in last summer's transfer window, despite the Italian side being open to a deal.

The Blues were among the many clubs linked with signing the Nigerian striker last year as his relationship with the Italian side disintegrated, leading to him being exiled from the squad. Despite the interest from Europe's top clubs, Osimhen ended up joining Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan for the duration of the 2024-25 campaign.

However, journalist Buchi Laba has revealed Chelsea "messed up" the chance to sign the 26-year-old, explaining that Napoli gave the Blues an advantage in the transfer race and frustrated other clubs' attempts to land the forward.

Osimhen is once again being linked with a transfer in January, with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain said to be considering a bid. However, the 2022-23 Serie A winner is said to be clear in his desire to stay at Galatasaray, where he has scored a whopping 14 goals in 18 Super Lig and Europa League matches.
