United have reportedly agreed to pay the Brazilian striker's £62.5 million ($84m) release clause, having already reached an agreement with the player.

While the confirmation of the 25-year-old's arrival seems imminent, head coach Amorim said that it may take a while as the Red Devils prepare for a busy summer transfer window following their dismal season.

Amorim told reporters: "You have to wait for that. It won’t confirm anything. I have no news. We will see. There will be some changes."

They suffered further humiliation on Wednesday when they lost to the ASEAN All Stars in Malaysia. As well as Cunha, United have been linked with Ipswich striker Liam Delap, while players like Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony are expected to be sold.
